Q: What brand of camera and lenses do you use?
A: I am primarily using a Canon 5Dmk3. Prior work had been done with my first camera, a Canon 50D and canon 400D.
Canon lenses I currently use: 24-105 (4.0 IS), 70-200 (2.8 IS), 50/1.8 and 85/1.2.
**90% of my shoots are done with the 24-105 (4.0 IS)**
Q: Do you prefer film or digital cameras?
A: I prefer digital without a doubt, as I’m a bit of a technology geek, however, when I’m being paid to shoot on assignment, I’m happy to shoot whatever the client prefers.
Q: What computer platform do you use?
A: Our studio is entirely Mac.
Q: Any advice to get models more comfortable with posing?
A: Go to Youtube and type in: ‘Coco Rocha 50 Poses in 30 Seconds’ and “Model Coco Rocha with 19 Jumping Poses” this is an invaluable tool for aspiring/beginning models.
I recommend sending the link to your model before a shoot or downloading to your phone to show them on set if they need guidance.
Q: What is your best piece of advice for beginners looking to learn more?
A: I defer to the master, Herb Ritts: “It’s not where you place the light, it’s where you place the shadows.”
